Kevin Vuong is a Canadian former Member of Parliament who comes from a family that fled the violence of the Vietnam War and found refuge in Canada where they were welcomed and supported by the community In his early life he was taught to value service to others and to give back to the country that offered safety and opportunity This sense of duty guided his career as he pursued work that combined public service military service and entrepreneurship at home and abroad
Career in Public Service
Kevin Vuong was elected at the age of thirty two as the Member of Parliament for Spadina Fort York in Canada’s House of Commons He became the youngest MP of Asian heritage to serve in the forty fourth Parliament of Canada and also the first Kevin Vuong independent nominated by his peers to the executive committee of the Canadian Parliamentary Network His time in politics brought him visibility as he worked on national issues and represented diverse voices in downtown Toronto
Military Leadership and Recognition
Alongside his political work Kevin Vuong serves as a naval reserve officer in the Royal Canadian Navy holding the rank of Lieutenant in the Strategic Advisory Team at His Majesty’s Canadian Ship York His leadership was recognized internationally when NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg appointed him Canada’s NATO 2030 Young Leader He also received honours such as the Queen’s Young Leader Medal for his contributions
Entrepreneurial and Academic Pursuits
Before entering politics Vuong co founded and served as COO of Delphic Research Group a leading Canadian govtech company He also lectured at universities on topics like future work and technology and contributed to research about artificial intelligence and bias
Choosing Family and New Directions
In 2025 Kevin Vuong announced he would not seek re election explaining that family and parenting had become his priority He continues to explore ways of serving his community and country outside public office while building a life for his young daughter and wife
